The Photographer

I've been diving for fifty nine years, taking underwater photographs to record what I saw and to capture the experience of being underwater. Coming to North America from the UK in 1975, I discovered the amazing heritage of shipwrecks in the Great Lakes, preserved by their unique conditions of cold fresh water. This was an unexpected bounty for an underwater photographer, consequently my partner and dive model Linda and I have been diving on and photographing these shipwrecks every summer for over three decades. My book is a distillation of photographs I shot in Northern Michigan - I wanted to share some of the images with a wider audience in this form.
